SPERM ANALYSIS
SPERM TEST:

This test provides information about macroscopic and microscopic sperm features. It is the basic test for a male to do when a couple encounters problems trying to conceive a child and to determine what treatment is the most adequate for the couple.

SPERM DNA FRAGMENTATION:

The analysis is performed by a new technique that provides information on the percentage of the sperm which have fragmented DNA.

If the percentage of sperm DNA fragmentation is high, the chances of a pregnancy decrease while the risk of miscarriage increases.

In cases of high fragmentation, we can perform techniques which help select the unfragmented spermatozoids and increase the possibilities for a successful treatment.

 FISH:

FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridisation) is a cytogenetic technique that is used to detect and localise the presence or absence of specific DNA sequences in chromosomes. FISH uses fluorescent probes that only attach to those parts of the chromosome that show a high degree of sequence complementarity.

This way we can detect the chromosomic anomalies present in the spermatozoids which can be the cause of miscarriages, implantation failures or bad embryo development.

The results of this test help us select the best technique in each case.

FEMALE FERTILITY ANALYSES
HORMONAL STUDY:

This consists of a blood test performed between the second and fifth days of the menstrual cycle. It provides the current levels of hormones which affect fertility, such as FSH, LH, PROLACTIN, and AMH. This study enables the doctor to select the most suitable treatment for you.

TUBAL PATENCY TESTS:

The patency of fallopian tubes is tested by introducing a contrast agent to visualise the passage through the tubes and check if they are obstructed. This can also be done using X-ray (hysterosalpingography) or via gynaecological ultrasound.
