MANZANERA KINDERWUNSCHKLINIK

Assisted reproduction is a rapidly advancing science in the past years and has a promising future in hand. All the changes are evolving towards a higher pregnancy rate by transferring just one embryo to diminish multiple pregnancy risks.
Different investigation lines began recently, and if they reach satisfactory conclusions, we will see significant progress in reproductive medicine.
One of the investigation lines which offers the most hope is the development of oocytes and spermatozoids from stem cells. This advance would allow us to dispense with donors in treatments which include egg or sperm donation.
Another upcoming advance is the donation of the cytoplasm of the donor’s eggs to the recipient. It is commonly known as a baby of 3 parents and was already done successfully in the UK. Due to this advance, we will attain that the advanced aged women will be able to have kids who will be genetically their own.
Moreover, the genetic edition of an embryo by using the molecular scissors (CRISPR) is in the experimental stage. With CRISPR we could eliminate some of the mutations which generate various illnesses from the embryos.
All these advancements translated to already present reality give us an up-and-coming future in assisted reproduction treatments.
As Woody Allen said, “We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives”.
