Through AI, it is possible to analyse variables such as embryonic morphology and the rate of cell division with a level of precision and detail that far exceeds the capabilities of the human eye.

Furthermore, if the mother has any medical condition, this analysis allows for an accurate prediction of its progression and the impact on the health of both mother and baby. In this way, it is possible to make more informed decisions from the outset, optimising both pregnancy monitoring and the planning of care during childbirth.
This tool will enable a more accurate interpretation of routine analytical data in pregnant women, particularly in the case of slight deviations from the norm which are often difficult to assess. For example, when mild abnormalities in blood sugar levels (glycaemia) are detected – which usually require thorough monitoring – this system could, in future, identify those pregnant women who genuinely require intensive monitoring. This would optimise resources and avoid placing an unnecessary burden on low-risk patients.
During antenatal care, it is essential to put changes in weight during pregnancy into context. Sometimes, excessive importance is attached to slight weight gains without assessing constitutional or environmental factors; conversely, other less obvious variables that do have a real impact on pregnancy and childbirth are often overlooked.
Similarly, obstetric ultrasound is establishing itself as a vital tool for the early diagnosis of abnormalities. Whilst many malformations are currently not detected until the 20-week morphological scan, technological advances now make it possible to identify these concerns and make these diagnoses much earlier.

Artificial intelligence is establishing itself as a vital resource in the delivery room, as it optimises the analysis of foetal monitoring and allows this data to be accurately compared with blood pH, where necessary.
All this technological infrastructure is designed to provide obstetricians with an advanced analytical tool, aimed at enabling them to make optimal clinical decisions that ensure the birth of a healthy baby.
Traditionally, obstetricians were expected to combine science, compassion and patience; today, it is essential to add expertise in the use of artificial intelligence to this triad.

G.
